Residential Fireplace Products :: Alsey Firebrick Stain and Color Enhancer

We have developed a high temperature refractory stain available in two colors, Merlot Red and Jet Black. While Jet Black provides an all black look, Merlot Red gives firebrick a deep red color similar to that of face brick.

This product is available in a 1 quart (.946L) and 1 gallon (3.784L) metal cans. This stain is designed and approved for use in all masonry fireplaces, new and previously used.

Shake can vigorously for 30 seconds. Apply directly to firebrick to be colored with a bristle brush. For best results, apply to firebrick after firebox has been constructed. Apply a second coat if darker appearance is desired. For application in an existing "working" fireplace, use a wire brush to loosen the light layer of soot on the brick, then apply as directed above. Please note the wet color of the stain is not indicative of the end result color.

This product is commonly specified by interior decorators because the "red" look is unique, or sometimes they find the light natural color of the firebrick detracts from the room's color scheme, especially if the firebox is large and/or the homeowner does not plan to build fires.

Note:  Firebrick can be stained prior to being layed up in order to provide a contrast to the mortar color, or after layup for a monochromatic look.
