Alsey Refractories :: Company History 2000 - Present

During the beginning of the new millennium, Alsey developed several new products. The first product, FLUE-SET, a non-water soluble mortar was developed as the result of the ever changing residential building codes. Subsequently, there was the advent of a 3000ºF firebrick stain to give firebrick a different look from the typical buff color to a black or red color for residential fireplace construction. Two new pieces of machinery were added: a jaw crusher in the grinding department and a hydraulic brick press for smaller production runs of special shapes.

On October 1st, 2004, Louis S. Goltermann III was appointed President of Alsey Refractories Company which elevated Louis S. Goltermann, Jr. to Chief Executive Officer.

2006 marked our centennial celebration.  We held an “Open House” in conjunction with the annual Alsey Burgoo Festival which saluted “The Working Man”.  An Alsey Refractories Company float participated in the parade; tours of our plant were given to the public, and the milestone was capped off with a spectacular commercial fireworks display that night.

We are constantly looking to the future by performing equipment upgrades, updating and expanding our facility, and securing  a very large, long term clay supply by purchasing land to extend our clay reserves for generations to follow.
