Industrial Refractory Products :: Alsey HI-CAST 2700ºF Refractory Castable

HI-CAST, available in 50 lb. bags, is a general purpose 2700°F castable for most standard operating service conditions.

  • Tamping, mix 9 to 10 pints (U.S.) of water per 100 lbs. of dry HI-CAST.
  • Cast Vibrating, mix 12 to 14 pints (U.S.) of water per 100 lbs. of dry HI-CAST.
  • Puddling consistency, mix 14 to 20 pints (U.S.) of water per 100 lbs. of dry HI-CAST.

Stir mix thoroughly, return unneeded portion to the bag, and then mix the remainder with the correct ratio of water.

Under normal atmospheric conditions, set will occur 8 to 10 hours after HI-CAST is mixed. Heat can usually be applied after 24 hours; however, starting temperature must be held below the boiling point of water to avoid the formation of steam which will result in excessive cracking and spalling with lower strength.

To avoid moisture absorption, store HI-CAST in a cool dry place.
